On 28th August 2025, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), North Tripura took a significant step towards empowering women by organising a Legal Awareness Programme at Dewanpasha Gram Panchayat under Jubarajnagar RD Block. The focus of the event was the Mahila Sashaktikaran Abhiyan Scheme, a key initiative aimed at promoting women’s rights and socio-economic empowerment.
The session was led by Advocate Debasree Bhattacharjee, who served as the Resource Person. She delivered an informative and inspiring talk on the importance of women knowing their legal rights, particularly in rural areas. Her address highlighted various provisions of the Mahila Sashaktikaran Abhiyan Scheme, including access to legal aid, vocational training, protection against domestic violence, and financial independence through government schemes.
Supporting the initiative, Sri Pitam Nath, a committed Para Legal Volunteer, played a vital role in connecting with the local community and ensuring their active participation in the programme. His efforts in community mobilisation helped bring together a diverse group of attendees, including women, youth, and local panchayat members.
The event witnessed interactive sessions where villagers asked questions related to women’s rights, legal recourse in cases of domestic violence, and benefits available under the scheme. Many participants expressed gratitude for the opportunity to learn about their rights and pledged to spread the knowledge within their communities.
