An allegation has come to light that a widowed working woman employed at Trisam Bagan Bari, located under the Sripur Gram Panchayat area, was subjected to a serious crime and forced sexual assault through abuse of authority by the owner of the establishment, Shri Mihir Kanti Nath. In this connection, a case has been registered at the Dharmanagar Women Police Station, and the accused is currently in judicial custody.
This incident has caused deep concern and public outrage in society, seriously calling into question the moral integrity and social acceptability of the establishment. In response to this tragic and alarming incident that recently occurred in the Sripur Gram Panchayat area, local residents have come forward demanding justice. At a public meeting organized today, 25th January 2026, at the initiative of the victim’s family, the large turnout of villagers clearly demonstrated that Sripur is not silent against injustice.
During today’s public meeting, members of the victim’s family shared the horrific experiences they have endured. They clearly stated how an already vulnerable family has not only fallen victim to a grave crime but is now also facing pressure and intimidation from various quarters to compromise for merely seeking justice. Their statements deeply moved those present, who collectively pledged to stand by the victim’s family.
Shri Gopika Kanta Dutta, Para Legal Volunteer, District Legal Services
Authority, North Tripura, Dharmanagar, was present at the meeting and clearly
explained various legal aspects to the gathering.
After the meeting, the residents of the Sripur Gram Panchayat area placed the following clear demands before the district administration:
· Immediate, fair, and impartial investigation into the incident
· Permanent closure of Trisam Bagan Bari located in the Sripur area
· Legal action against those involved in the illegal operation of the establishment
· Strict legal action against those pressuring the victim’s family to compromise
· Ensuring the safety and security of the victim’s family and witnesses
The demands raised at today’s meeting were not merely an administrative appeal; they represented the collective conscience of the people of Sripur. The public clearly stated that justice is not a matter for compromise, and society cannot accept any reconciliation with crime.
This entire initiative proves that when ordinary people unite, strong pressure is created in favor of justice. This mass movement in the Sripur Gram Panchayat area renews hope that the rule of law, women’s safety, and human values are still alive in society.
Your support is our strength. Stand with us for justice.
