The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), North Tripura, under the directive of the Tripura State Legal Services Authority, has recently undertaken an important social initiative. By organizing awareness camps on the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act in various schools across the district, they aim to raise awareness among students about child protection.
The POCSO Act, i.e., the "Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012," is a crucial law aimed at preventing sexual abuse against children. Its primary objective is to protect children from sexual harassment, abuse, and exploitation. However, due to a lack of awareness about their rights, children and adolescents often remain deprived of justice. In this context, the DLSA North Tripura has launched this awareness campaign.
In these camps, lawyers and Para Legal Volunteers engage with students using simple language to explain the importance of the Act, the types of offenses it covers, and what steps to take if one becomes a victim. Teachers are also urged to stand by their students and provide timely support when needed.
The core objective of this initiative by the North Tripura District Legal Services Authority is to deliver a positive message to students, "Awareness is Protection," and every child has the right to a safe and secure childhood.

On July 18, 2025, the Sub Divisional Legal Services Committee, Dharmanagar organized a Legal Awareness Programme on 'The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012' for the students of Rajbari Girls H.S School, Dharmanagr, North Tripura.
