On August 7th, 2025, a significant step was taken toward ensuring inclusive access to identity services in North Tripura. As part of the SAATHI Campaign launched by the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), North Tripura, Dharmanagar, in collaboration with the Sub-Divisional Administration, Dharmanagar, organized an Aadhaar card registration camp at Bishnupur Gram Panchayat, under Kadamtala RD Block. The event was graced by Mr. Rajarshi Chakraborty, District Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, North Tripura, as the inaugurator.
The SAATHI campaign, Strengthening Access to Justice through Technology and Legal Awareness, is aimed at bridging the gap between legal institutions and the public, especially in remote and rural areas. One key aspect of the campaign is ensuring access to essential government services, and this Aadhaar camp marked an important milestone in that direction.
The camp was set up to facilitate both new Aadhaar registrations and updates to existing cards, benefiting residents who might otherwise struggle to access these services due to distance, lack of awareness, or other socio-economic barriers. Local volunteers, legal services authorities, and administrative staff worked together to guide individuals through the process, offering assistance and spreading awareness about the importance of Aadhaar as a foundational identity document.
The initiative was welcomed warmly by the community, with many residents expressing gratitude for bringing such an essential service to their doorstep. It also served as a platform to promote legal awareness, encouraging people to take advantage of services made available through legal aid institutions.
Efforts like this highlight the vital role of collaboration between legal services and administrative bodies in ensuring no citizen is left behind in accessing their rights and entitlements.
