On August 14th, 2025, a significant step toward strengthening grassroots legal empowerment was taken with the formal inauguration of the Village Legal Care & Support Centre (VLCSC) at Baghan Gram Panchayat under the Kadamtala RD Block in North Tripura. This initiative, spearheaded by the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), North Tripura, aims to bring legal awareness, support, and access to justice closer to rural communities.

The event was graced by Mr. Rajarshi Chakraborty, District Secretary of DLSA, North Tripura, and Advocate Ramendra Chandra Nath, who served as the resource persons. Their presence and insights highlighted the vital role of VLCSCs in bridging the gap between the legal system and the common people.
The newly inaugurated centre will serve as a local hub for legal aid, offering guidance on legal rights, documentation support, and assistance in accessing government welfare schemes. It also seeks to resolve minor disputes through counselling and legal advice, thereby reducing the burden on formal courts.
The Village Legal Care & Support Centre will remain open every Sunday from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. And, Para Legal Volunteer Sri Rajesh Chandra Nath, who will act as the first point of contact for villagers seeking help. His role will be crucial in identifying local issues, conducting awareness drives, and ensuring that legal services are inclusive and accessible.

This launch marks a meaningful advancement in legal outreach in rural Tripura and reinforces the commitment of the DLSA towards ensuring “Access to Justice for All.” As VLCSCs continue to expand, they hold the potential to transform legal empowerment in remote areas, promoting justice, equality, and human rights at the village level.
