On 12th August 2025, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), North Tripura, organized a Legal Awareness Programme at Uttar Padmabil Gram Panchayat under Panisagar RD Block. The event focused on two important legal frameworks: the Tripura Victim Compensation Scheme, 2018 and the Tripura Compensation Scheme for Women Victims/Survivors of Sexual Assault/Other Crimes, 2018.
The programme aimed to inform citizens about their legal rights and the avenues available for compensation and support in cases of crime and violence. Advocate Juthika Debnath served as the resource person and delivered an insightful session explaining the provisions, eligibility, and application processes under both schemes. She highlighted the government’s responsibility in supporting victims through financial aid, rehabilitation, and legal assistance.
Para Legal Volunteer Sri Kunal Chandra Ghosh supported the session by facilitating community engagement and ensuring active participation from local residents.
The event witnessed a positive response, with community members engaging in discussions and gaining clarity on how to seek help when needed. DLSA’s initiative reflects its ongoing commitment to justice at the grassroots level, especially for women and vulnerable sections of society.
