On 8th September 2025, in observance of International Literacy Day, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), North Tripura took a proactive step to promote the value of education and legal literacy by organizing an Awareness Rally at Kalacherra Higher Secondary School, under the Kalacherra RD Block. The initiative aimed to highlight the significance of literacy as a fundamental human right and a cornerstone for individual and community empowerment.
Simultaneously, the Sub Divisional Legal Services Committee (SDLSC), Dharmanagar held a parallel Awareness Rally at Lalcherra Higher Secondary School, under the Kalacherra RD Block. Both events saw enthusiastic participation from students, teachers, Para Legal Volunteers, and community members, all united by the common goal of spreading awareness about the importance of literacy not just in reading and writing, but in understanding one’s legal rights and responsibilities.
The rallies served a dual purpose: to observe International Literacy Day and to foster legal awareness among the youth, ensuring that students understand their rights and the role of the legal system in upholding justice. Placards, slogans, and brief interactive sessions were part of the events, making them both educational and engaging.
Sri Robert Halam, Para Legal Volunteer from the DLSA and Sri Sanjib Barua, Para Legal Volunteer from the SDLSC highlighted that true literacy goes beyond academics, it includes legal literacy, which is essential for empowering citizens, especially the younger generation, to make informed decisions and stand up for their rights.
The DLSA, North Tripura and SDLSC, Dharmanagar remain committed to continuing such outreach programs that blend education with legal empowerment, building a more aware, just, and literate society for the future.
