On 24th September 2025, the Legal Services Unit for Children (LSUC) under the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), North Tripura, in collaboration with the District Disability Rehabilitation Centre (DDRC), North Tripura, took a significant step towards promoting early detection of disabilities in children. An Awareness cum Medical Camp was organized at Bungnung PHC under Jubarajnagar RD Block, aimed at empowering the local community with crucial knowledge and access to essential services.

The initiative focused on identifying developmental challenges at an early stage, enabling timely intervention and support for children and their families. A total of 54 community members participated in the camp, reflecting strong local engagement and concern for child well-being. Out of these, 13 beneficiaries were identified and registered for further assistance under various government schemes.

The camp was enriched by the expert guidance of Dr. Raja Nag and Dr. Kabari Nath, who served as the primary Resource Persons. Their medical insights and compassionate approach were instrumental in educating parents and caregivers on the importance of early diagnosis and available interventions.

Additionally, Para Legal Volunteer Sri Rajib Debnath played a crucial role in facilitating the camp, helping families understand their legal entitlements and how to access welfare schemes, including assistance in opening bank accounts to avail of monetary benefits.

This collaborative effort between the DLSA and DDRC not only provided medical screening but also bridged the gap between the community and essential government services. It represents a commendable move toward inclusive development, ensuring that no child is left behind due to a lack of awareness or resources.
Such initiatives are vital in fostering a more equitable and supportive environment for children with disabilities and their families.
